A Day Away

Yesterday the kids had a day off from school so James took the day off from work and we went to the Orthodontist! Sounds fun huh? Actually it was. We took the kids to U of M dental school for their treatment. Praise God that their prices are so cheap. Both kids will end up with braces, palate wideners...the works. Good news? Hannah gets to wait a couple years. Bad news? James is on the waiting list to start ASAP. I know they will look great and have beautiful teeth in the end. Sorry Kara, no pictures there. I forgot.
After that we just spent the day hanging out in Ann Arbor. We went to lunch at Krazy Jim's Blimpy Burger. James and I watch "Diners Drive-in and Dives" on the Food Network and this was one of the featured Diners. It's super old school and YUMMY!

(This is Hannah's best MMMMmmmmm Face)

We then took a nice walk around downtown, got some ice cream and just chilled out in the sun. We ended up at a park with a nice playground, small lake and some trails. It was so nice to be outside and with the family. James and Hannah did lots of exploring while Evan quacked at all the ducks.

It was a good day.

Isn't it fun to have a day with just your hubby and the kids away from the norm? We are planning a similar day in April... but it won' t involve the orthodontist. :)
I'm so glad that is near enough for you to reap the benefits. And palatal expanders.. yuck! Did you have to have that? Casey and I both did. Our children have unfortunately inherited our small mouths- you'll have to check out Rachel's erupting teeth the next time you see her... oh dear.

There's nothing better than a day with your family!

Looks like fun...except for the braces news. I had never heard of going to U of M for ortho work. Hooray for that. What did you actually get to eat at the diner?

Chris- we didn't think of going to U of M either. We have some friends that took their kids and reccomended it to us.
There isn't much choice of food. So we all got burgers, fries, soda...the good greasy kind of food. That's why we did all the walking after. To keep our arteries clear.

Sounds like fun! Ann Arbor's a pretty cool town to chill out in. What park did you go to? There's a nice one on Huron Parkway (I think that's the street name). Looks like lots of fun.
Sorry about all of the equipment going into the oral cavities of your children.... can't say I'm envious. Glad U of M worked out well for you.

Looks like a great family outting!
We have an ortho. appointment for Mackenzie this afternoon. She is not looking forward to having braces at all. I wish we were closer to U of M.
